Back to School – Part 3 – Water Rays
I had all these dreams and visions of sharing my inspired! creative! approach to Brief 1 for the Advanced Track of MIID Summer School.
I played with all sorts of materials: watercolors, gouache—even torn up pantyhose. But with limited success with all three, and a looming deadline, I ended up at the computer, and, I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with the end pattern.
As part of the Summer School program, I’ve been able to see a lot of what my fellow students are working on, and let me tell you, it’s fan-frickin’-tastic stuff. So, it was interesting to me that my interpretation of the guidelines was a little different from anything else I was seeing—from content to palette.
And, while I’m happy with how the swatch turned out, I’m not so pleased with the bottom left-hand pillow in the mock-up; that little pain-in-the-pouf went through over a dozen variations, and it’s still rotten. Grrrrr. But, it’s done and out the door, now, and I made the deadline. Yee-ha!
I have the weekend off, and then another round of creative briefs for all three tracks; I’m seriously curious to see what they send our way, next!
