The Nutcracker—Crackin’ Good!

The Nutcracker book delivery

There’s nothing like seeing your book in person for the first time.

The Nutcracker is here and out and available and so very, very cool!

After all the months of planning and writing and rewriting, and working with the paper engineer (the incomparable Yevgeniya Yeretskaya), to make sure the text supported the pop-ups without getting in their way, and then watching as Neiko Ng’s beautiful illustration work started flowing it, it was a thrill to see “that” box on my doorstep—the one with the finished book, inside.

And, it was an even bigger thrill opening the box and holding the book in my hands and paging through it for the very first time. Want to share that page-through experience? Here you go . . .
. . .

The good times kept rolling because the publisher, Jumping Jack Press, (an imprint of Up With Paper), informed me that they’d submitted The Nutcracker for consideration in the 2018 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, and it won Gold in the Book Arts/Pop-up/Cut-out category.

Nicely done, book!
